BIOGRAPHY OF MANAGING DIRECTOR
Tuk Lal Adhikari

Tuk Lal Adhikari is the Managing Director of ITECO Nepal, one of Nepal's largest engineering firms serving in the field of engineering infrastructure projects within and outside the country. He also serves as a Secretary of the Board of Directors of the company. The firm operates for the last twenty-seven years in Nepal through its major business units, including Hydropower, Transportation, and other Engineering Infrastructure units.

  • Mr. Adhikari holds a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Roorkee (renamed as IIT Roorkee), India. He has also obtained a number of relevant training in project management, quality control/assurance, and modern engineering skills.
  • Mr. Adhikari has successfully completed numerous assignments in various capacities.
  • T. L. Adhikari is one of the founding members of ITECO Nepal and has risen to the apex position of Managing Director starting from the fresh entry-level engineer in the past 35 years.
  • He has been rendering his services to various national and international projects undertaken by the Company and in collaboration with local and foreign consultants.
  • In particular, he as an Assistant Project Leader has greatly contributed to the successful completion of Charnawati Rehabilitation Project Phase I and II, a Swiss Government-aided project, being undertaken in collaboration with expatriate Team Leader fielded by ITECO Switzerland from 1987 to 1989.
  • He has acquired valuable experience and expertise in geotechnical engineering and materials investigation for various projects.
  • He is the President of Nepal Geotechnical Society, Executive Member of Society of Consulting Architectural and Engineering Firms, Nepal (SCAEF), Executive Member of Nepal Tunneling Association, Member of Nepal Geological Society, and various other professional organizations.
  • He has been involved as a Geotechnical Engineer and Project Team Leader for the study of numerous hydropower projects, landslide stabilization, slope stabilization works, and bridge projects, road engineer for major highway projects in Nepal, including rural road development projects.

Following are the major projects completed in different capacities:

  • Project Coordinator for undertaking Community Based Water Supply and Sanitation Project (CBWSSP): Package - I for the Pilot, ADB Loan No. NEP- 2008 (SF).
  • Project Coordinator for undertaking Construction of Headworks of Sikta Irrigation Project.
  • Project Coordinator for undertaking Road Sector Development Project (IDA Grant No.: H339-NEP) - Feasibility and Detail Design.
  • Project coordinator for undertaking Small Town Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Projects, namely, package 1: Trijuga and Fikkal, package 11: Surunga, Bardibas, and Kamalamai, and Package II Batch 4: Arghakhanchi, Sandhikharka, Mahendra Nagar, Karaia-Makrar.
  • Project coordinator and deputy team leader for carrying out the feasibility study, detail project report, detail design of hydropower projects such as Likhu 1 (77 MW), Likhu 2 (55 MW), Likhu A (51 MW), Lapchi (160MW), Upper Solu(23.5Mw), Lower Solu (82MW), Sardi (4MW), and geotechnical expert for Likhu IV (120 MW) hydropower projects undertaken by various independent power producers (IPPs).
  • Project coordinator for WB funded Rural Access Improvement and Decentralization Project (RAIDP) to provide project support consultancy for implementation of rural roads and community infrastructure works in 20 districts of Nepal.
  • Project director for ADB funded Upper Sagarmatha Agriculture Development Project in the implementation of rural roads in Okhaldhunga, Khotang, and Solukhumbu districts.
  • Project director for DfID funded Rural Access Programme to implement Hilepani-Diktel rural road (81 km).
  • Project Manager for undertaking the screening and ranking study for 25 small hydropower projects of capacity 500 kW to 2000 kW under JICA Nepal funding.
  • Road Engineer for ADB funded technical assistance for transport connectivity sector project and deputy team leader for ADB funded North-South Fast Track Road Project.
  • Project Coordinator for Detailed Engineering Design and Construction Supervision for Upgrading of Bishnumati Link Road under Urban and Environmental Improvement Project Loan No. 1966 NEP (SF).
